OCD (Obesessive Compulsive Disorder), or more commonly known as obsession, is a real psychological disorder that leaves the person and those around them completely powerless. It’s not something you made up. You didn’t want this situation. Learning to change the way you think and act in the face of obsessive thoughts and anxiety is key to eliminating OCD from your life.

OCD symptoms in the best way; we can think of them as a set of unwanted special experiences and behavior patterns that are very stressful, useless, and difficult to control without the right help. These special experiences include irrational thoughts, images, and doubts that intrude into your mind against your will—what we call obsessions. Often, these mental intrusions, triggered by something in the environment, produce anxiety and distress, along with a feeling of fear and uncertainty that something bad or harmful will happen.

You may also feel some bodily changes, which we call the “fight or flight” response, such as increased heart rhythm, muscle tension, and stomach upset. Against this, these special experiences; triggers the urge to do something to reduce anxiety and deal with obsessive thoughts.

Compulsive rituals and avoidance strategies are types of behavior patterns that people with OCD use to deal with obsessive thoughts, build a sense of security and certainty, and reduce anxiety.

There are two critical messages to be drawn from here:

  1. Obsessions; arouses anxiety, uncertainty and distress.
  2. Coercive rituals and avoidance is initiatives to reduce anxiety and distress.

While compulsive rituals and avoidance behaviors rarely manage to reduce obsessive anxiety, uncertainty, and other unwanted private experiences in the short term, these strategies tend to have negative results in the long run. This is because special experiences associated with OCD always come back; so you find yourself doing the same rituals and avoidance behaviors more and more. Over time, these patterns intensify to such a point that people; They realize that they spend a lot of energy trying to fight their private experiences with avoidance behavior and rituals (which have negative consequences). And important areas of their lives are turned upside down.
