What is Etodolac Used For?

Etotio, it contains the active ingredients of etodolac and thiocolchicoside. Etodolac, showing anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effects in animals; It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) drug.

It is used for the treatment of sudden and painful muscle contractions in arthritis, painful syndromes of the spine, extra-articular rheumatism, spinal cord diseases, and for the treatment of post-traumatic or post-operative pain in adults and young people over the age of 16.

Situations in Which Etotio Should not be Used

• Patients with hypersensitivity to etodolac and/or thiocolchicoside-containing compounds and any substance contained in the drug;
• Patients who develop allergic reactions during treatment with aspirin or other NSAIDs due to possible cross-drug reactions, or patients with a history of acute asthma, colds, hives;
• Patients with a history of bleeding or perforation of the gastrointestinal tract related to previous treatment with NSAIDs;
• In patients with severe heart failure, just before or after bypass and heart surgery; patients with active ulcers or a history of peptic ulcers, including gastrointestinal bleeding caused by other NSAIDs;
• In loose paralysis; patients with abnormally low muscle tone;
• Those who are pregnant or breastfeeding; children aged 16 years and under;
• Women of childbearing potential who are not using effective contraception should not use Etotio.

Etotio Should be Used With Caution in the Following Situations

• Etotio, especially because of the etodolac it contains; As with other NSAIDs, it should be used with caution against cardiac, renal or hepatic insufficiency.
• Etodolac treatment should be discontinued if clinical signs and symptoms consistent with liver disease occur or if systemic manifestations such as rash occur.
• Etotio should be used with caution in patients with a history of bronchial asthma or in patients with bronchial asthma, as bronchospasm has been reported with the use of NSAIDs.
• Etothio; It should be used with caution in patients with fluid retention, hypertension, or heart failure.
• Caution should be exercised for ulceration and bleeding symptoms that may occur in the digestive tract during NSAID therapy such as etodolac.
• To minimize the unexpected risk in the digestive system; The lowest effective dose should be administered for the shortest possible duration.
• Alternative treatments not involving NSAIDs should be considered for high-risk patients.
• Patients should be informed of the signs and symptoms of serious skin reactions, which in some cases can be fatal; In case of skin rash or any other sign of hypersensitivity, the drug should be discontinued.
• Thiocolchicoside in the content of Etotio; It may precipitate seizures, especially in patients with epilepsy or at risk of seizures.
• Etotio treatment should be discontinued if diarrhea occurs following oral administration.
• It can be reduced by using the lowest effective dose of the drug for the shortest duration necessary to control undesirable effects and symptoms.
